Magic Touch of Parents: A heart touching story by Rusen Kumar

Long ago, there was a developed country called, Nagaragulu, which grew, thanks to its hardworking citizens. They lived in palatial and tall buildings. Children played with modern toys, despite that the people missed something in their lives. Elderly parents had all required amenities, but their joy was short-lived. Though the country was successful globally, but its citizen’s joy and happiness was on decline. There lived a famous Guru (Saint) Somayajulu in Nagaragulu, who was known for extra ordinary abilities and far-sightedness. He was well respected by evevyone.

A grown-up disciple Anjneyulu, once asked the Saint (Guru), “Why my children, do not love me as much as my parents love me, even now?”

“You must ask this question to your parents”, Somayajulu advised his disciple.

Anjneyulu approached his father and repeated the question, “Why do I get a feeling that you and my mother love me much more than my children love me?”

Explaining to his son, Anjneyulu’s father Vapankulu said, “Son, during your childhood, you were a weak child and would fall sick, often. Your mother would massage your legs and feet so that you were relieved of pain and I used to gently pat your forehead so that you could sleep calmly.”

He continued, “Even medicine used to work better, when you were sound asleep.”

“Parents’ loving and affectionate touch is magical as their heart melts on seeing their children’s suffering and then they shower their compassion and blessings on their children,” he added.

“During your childhood, on numerous times, I and your mother caressed and patted you lovingly. Our affectionate touch may perhaps be the reason, that you still feel our love,” Vapankul further elaborated.

“The positive impact of parents’ affectionate touch remains imprinted on children’s mind, throughout their life,” he concluded.

Having understood his father’s teaching, Anjneyulu looked into his eyes and reiterated his learning, “To be a good father, we need to relate with and deeply feel the suffering of our children and we should remain by their side till the time their pain is alleviated.”

“You understood it right, son”, father Vapankulu said softly as he nodded in agreement.

The disciple Anjneyulu rushed and narrated the conversation with his father to his Guru.

“Your children seek your love and affection, so that they can, in turn, spread the love. They are like blossoming buds waiting to bloom into a flower and spread their fragrance. Your loving and compassionate touch will evoke positive feelings in children and encourage them to explore many new possibilities. Your emotional attachment to your children will make your innocent children’s life, worthwhile.”, sermonized Somayajulu to his disciples.

“Make your unhealthy children healthy. Shower blessings of happiness if they are grieved. Wipe their tears and embrace them, when they cry. Motivate them to live, when they are depressed. Take them to open place, so that they can appreciate nature’s beauty. Be by their side, so that they learn to rise. Apologize to them for your mistakes, so that they also learn to apologize. Respect them, so that they also start respecting others,” Guru Somayajulu continued his preaching.

Finally Guru Somayajulu looked at his disciple Anjeyulu and politely said, “Go and shower your children with your love and blessings. In return, they will start loving you even more."
