A MYSTICAL PAINTING: A MOTIVATIONAL STORY by RUSEN KUMAR
In the city of Mumbakulu, there was an exhibition of the outstanding work of art of a famous painter, which attracted huge crowds of art lovers, Anjnayulu was one of them. He stopped in front of each painting, would study it deeply to understand the meaning and the message hidden behind the visuals. He was particularly struck by a painting.
He stared at it for a long time to understand the meaning of the artwork. It was kind of a strange painting, a little ugly, though well presented. The painting depicted a man with his face covered by his thick, long hair, wings on his arms and strangely, his feet were tied with chains.
Anjnayulu tried his best to make some sense of this mystical painting, he also looked around for the painter to ask him about the uniqueness of the same, but he could not find the painter.
Upon his return to his village, he approached his Guru Somayajulu and shared with him his experience with the painting, to have his curiosity addressed.
Anjnayulu asked his guru, “What could possibly be the significance or intended meaning of the painting depicting a man with his face covered with his long, thick hair, with wings in his arm but feet tied up with chains?”
Ever pleasant guru Somayajulu asked him to sit close by and lovingly caressing his head, explained the secret of the mystical painting. “Life offers us many opportunities to move forward in life, but man chooses not to look ahead, he keeps his eyes (and mind) covered with social evils. He wishes to scale the peak, but he has feet tied.”
“People who keep their eyes and mind closed, they miss the opportunity to grow and move ahead in life. With their constrained thinking, they cannot give wings to their thoughts and aspirations.”, Guru added.
“The learning from the painting is that we should get rid of the feeling of despair from our face, remove the veil of evil and look afresh at the opportunities the world offers. Spread the wings of your boundless imagination and your self-confidence and break free of the outdated thoughts to move freely.” Thus the Guru Somayajulu explained ‘the secret of the mystical painting’ to his favourite disciple Anjnayulu.
